Wanneer je een dergelijke digitale organisatie ontwerpt is het uitermate belangrijk om extra aandacht te besteden aan de juiste ontwerpprincipes. Het zal niet langer volstaan om een enkele set organisatieprincipes uniform toe te passen op de gehele organisatie: een goed functionerende organisatie vereist meerdere leiderschapsstijlen en -culturen. Anderson MacGyver omschrijft dit concept aan de hand van de term &#8216;multimodaliteit&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fit met bedrijfsactiviteit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het belangrijkste principe van multimodaliteit is dat een geschikt digitaal organisatieontwerp gevormd moet worden door de kenmerken van de bedrijfsactiviteiten waarop een digitale organisatie zich richt, door middel van het toepassen van het Concurrerende Waarderaamwerk van Cameron en Quinn (2006).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Type organisatieculturen en hun kenmerken<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Anderson MacGyvers multimodale model onderscheidt vier modaliteiten waarvan de digitale organisatie kan bestaan uit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>ondernemend, kort-cyclische innovatieteams (adhocratie) gericht op unieke bedrijfsactiviteiten die externe bedrijfswaarde cre\u00ebren<\/li><li>stabiliteit en kostenbeherende teams (hi\u00ebrarchie) gericht op handelswaargerelateerde bedrijfsactiviteiten die wel noodzakelijk zijn, maar niet onderscheidend voor de organisatie.<\/li><li>integratieteams die de digitale data-uitwisseling, cohesie, overeenstemming en wederzijde overeenkomsten beheren (clan), en die gericht zijn op bedrijfsactiviteiten die specifiek en verbindend zijn voor de organisatie en haar activiteiten<\/li><li>teams die op intelligente wijze marktoplossingen invoeren (markt) en in staat zijn om deze snel toe te passen voor algemene maar concurrerende bedrijfsactiviteiten die bedrijfswaarde cre\u00ebren voor de klant<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>De competenties onder dit soort teams verschillen: innovatieteams (paars) vereisen heel andere competenties dan integratieteams (oranje). Marktteams (blauw) richten zich op het cre\u00ebren van externe waarde, terwijl hi\u00ebrarchieteams (groen) messcherp zijn wat betreft de kosten en stabiliteit van algemene functionaliteiten en diensten.
